I didn’t know HandsOn Connect could do that!
HandsOn officially launched our version of HandsOn Connect (the awesome website where you see all the awesome volunteer opportunities) in July 2011. Since then it has been increasingly popular. However, did you know that HandsOn Connect has a lot of really neat features built just for you the volunteer!? Read on to learn more!
1. Saved Searches: Do you find yourself searching for the same types of opportunities over and over again? Do you ever want to share the results with others? Well try saving your search next time you are on the hunt for the perfect opportunity. When logged in as a volunteer, conduct your volunteer search under the Find Opportunities Tab. Add as many or as few filters to your search as need. *Remember, you always need to enter a zip code.* Then click “Search” Once the new page loads, click the “Save and Share your Searches” You can then name it and save it. Once it is saved, you can copy the “Search Result Link” and share it with anyone! All of your saved searches will be stored under the “My Account” tab.
2. Tracking Your Service: HandsOn Connect will track all of your service for you! That is one of the many great things about having a volunteer profile. Log into your account to see your volunteer history. It is at the bottom of the Account Overview page. Does it look like some of your hard earned volunteer hours haven’t shown up yet? Click “Request Hours” and a reminder email will be sent to the Opportunity Coordinator. Please allow 1 week after your service for the Opportunity Coordinator to confirm your service. You can also give feedback on the project from this section! *Do you volunteer with an organization outside of HandsOn? Well stay tuned! There will soon be a way to self report your volunteer hours. That way you can track all of your service in one place.
3. Be a Team Player: Did you know you can create your very own volunteer teams? If you like to volunteer with the same folks again and again, this is the perfect feature for you! Create a private team and then you can sign up the whole group together. Public teams are also available. Join one with other like minded individuals or start your own and make new friends!
